When people are searching for an agent, I find that they like to know about the agent's background. I'll start out by providing some personal information and close by providing my business background.
I was born in Canora Saskatchewan. My parents were Bernie and Cora Kotlar. Mom was a school teacher and my father was a pharmacist. My dad owned Kotlar's Rexall Drugs in Canora but later moved to Saskatoon where he owned Kotlar's Drugs on the corner of Broadway and 10th Street. I have 3 siblings, an older sister and two younger brothers. My wife Sharon and I have two sons, Cory living in Vancouver in management with Telus and Chad living in Saskatoon in management in the oil industry. Chad and his wife Shaianne, have given us two wonderful grandchildren, Ashton and Irelynd.
Originally, I attended the University of Saskatchewan and graduated with a degree in education and later attained a post graduate diploma in Adult Education. I taught school for a couple of years in Saskatchewan but had a yearning to be my own boss and decided to go into real estate. I started in real estate in sales, then worked for 5 years as an educator in the industry, returning to sales and then into management and ownership of my own real estate office. During my time in the industry, I served about 20 years volunteering to sit on different real estate organization boards. I am a past president of the then Saskatoon Real Estate Board, past president of the Association of Saskatchewan REALTORS® and also spent 2 years as a director on the Canadian Real Estate Association. I also served on the Real Estate Insurance Exchange (REIX) for 2 terms, I started out on the Claims Committee which I chaired later and I also sat as chair of the Executive Committee. After 25 years of owning my own brokerage, I returned to my real love - sales.
After decades of serving clients, I delight in meeting new people and helping them with their housing, commercial and farming needs, and I've also spent alot of time with recreational real estate sales. My knowledge of the business and the legislation impacting the industry is vast and I would be more than happy to be interviewed by "you" to assist in your buying or selling situation.
